Throughout human history, mankind has ingested an approximate equal proportion (1/1 ratio) of Omega6 to Omega3 fatty acids. The Omega 6 and 3 are two of the forty-nine known essential nutrients.

The body’s inflammatory response is intimately regulated by Omega3’s, and this inflammatory response was created to respond to acute injury or microbial attack. If our inflammatory responses are needlessly provoked, damage to tissue and organs of the body occurs.

The reduction of Omega 3 in the diet of the industrialized nations has created a situation of chronic inflammation in people. In this case, the symptom of inflammation precedes the disease.

How important is the balance between Omega 3 and Omega 6?

Omega-3 shortage is positively correlated with over 50 diseases and illnesses including the dreaded diseases of *Cancer*-*Heart Disease*-*Diabetes*-*Stroke*-and-*Arthritis*.

The so-called western degenerative diseases have risen in a near perfect linear fashion with the elimination of Omega 3, and the over-provision of Omega 6 in the food chain. In many regards saturated fats may have been ruled guilty by association, as the cause of cardiovascular disease, but it appears to be more closely related to an increase vegetable oil intake than it does to saturated fats.

The United States Department of Health and Nutritional Services, The National Institute of Health, and the Life Sciences Research Offices of the Council for Responsible Nutrition have agreed that the daily intake of Omega 3 should increase to 1-3 grams per day. The World Health Organization (WHO) recently recommended that the daily intake of omega 3 should be increased above that consumed today by mature adults.

It is important to note that, as in the case of Vitamin C, Omega 3's do not store well in the body and therefore must be replenished on a daily basis. An Omega 3 supplement is the best method of ensuring an adequate Omega 3 daily intake.

Perhaps it should come as no surprise that supplemental intake of Omega 3 Supplements, on a regular ongoing basis, greatly improves all of the 50 known Omega 3 deficiency conditions.
