Triple Omega 3 Capsules
(An Essential Dietary Supplement)
EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid), DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), and DPA (docosapentaenoic acid) comprise the unique feature of marine oils. These three PUFA (polyunsaturated fatty acids) are formed in unicellular phytoplankton and multicellular sea algae which pass through the food web and become incorporated in fish and higher marine species. The high content of Omega 3 fatty acids in marine lipids is suggested to be a consequence of cold water temperature adaptation in which Omega 3 PUFA remain liquid and oppose tendencies to crystallize in warmer waters.
EPA, DPA, and DHA in our marine oils are located in the terminal position of triglyceride molecules, whereas in fish oils, they are primarily present in the middle position. This difference in the location of the Omega 3 PUFA is a major reason for the superior effect of higher marine oils, over fish oils in disease prevention and potential health benefits.
Use of Omega 3 fatty acids not only result in a decrease in plasma lipids by reduced synthesis of fatty acids, they also have a direct effect on the heart muscle itself ! They increase blood flow, decrease arrhythmias, improve arterial compliance, decrease the size of the infarct and reduce several cellular processes that compromise heart function. It has also been suggested that marine oils may retard arteriosclerosis, through their effects on platelet function, and inflammatory response. Long-chain Omega 3 fatty acids have been found to have a marked effect on tissue development. Recent studies have demonstrated that DHA supplementation during pregnancy and lactation is necessary to meet the fetal requirement for DHA.
